The name Long John Silver has been adapted from the 1883 novel, Treasure Island. This particular novel was written by Robert Stevenson. Also, the name is not the only thing here that is fish themed. The restaurant is meant to serve fast-food fish items. It is also an expert in offering a compelling nautical atmosphere ripe with decorations. Every restaurant includes a Captain’s Bell. The bell sits in front of the store to bid everyone hello and goodbye. Customers are often encouraged to ring the bell near the front door on their way out. Jim Patterson is a franchise. He belonged to the Jerrico Company and was entrusted to start the first Long John Silver in 1969. This person actually helped the store expand to more than a whopping 600 locations by 1976. The restaurant is meant to be reminiscent of a Cape Cod house type theme with a steel roof design. The original restaurant is located at Lexington, KY. It converted another restaurant known as the Cape Codder into the first John Silver.
